University of Maryland's cardiac surgeons are members of a multidisciplinary program within The Maryland Heart Center. Our board-certified heart experts offer an extensive range of cardiac surgical services, from repairing congenital heart defects in infants and children to performing heart transplantations, and other complex procedures for high-risk adult patients.

At the UM Heart Center, patients receive care from an integrated team of heart specialists, from many different areas of heart care. This ensures you receive the most advanced, comprehensive and effective care possible.

Research Efforts

As faculty physicians from University of Maryland School of Medicine, our cardiac surgeons have access to the latest research and treatment options available. They are currently engaged in nearly thirty translational and clinical research awards to investigate the causes of heart disease and find new ways to treat it.
