Vascular

Board-certified physicians from University of Maryland School of Medicine evaluate, diagnose and treat the full spectrum of vascular conditions. Our physicians work collaboratively with each patient’s primary care physician, cardiologist, podiatrist and/or nephrologist to provide individualized, comprehensive vascular care, and develop a comprehensive plan to treat underlying issues

UM vascular surgeons have access to cutting-edge research and conduct clinical trials to broaden the understanding of vascular disease and improve treatment options for patients.

Conditions Treated:

Non-Invasive Vascular Lab

The University of Maryland Non-Invasive Vascular Lab is a modern, uniquely designed facility to serve both inpatients and outpatients. Non-invasive testing allows patients to be examined using Doppler ultrasound and other techniques that are free of the risks and discomforts of injections or other invasive procedures. With these tests, we are able to diagnose almost all known or suspected vascular disorders and determine the severity of the problem. The vascular laboratory is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

The non-invasive tests available include:

  • Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)
  • Cerebrovascular Disease
  • Intracranial Vascular
  • Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT)
  • Renal Artery Disease
  • Mesenteric Arterial Disease
  • Aortic Aneurysms
  • Chronic Venous Disease
  • Dialysis Access planning and follow
  • Other specialized examinations
  • Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography for aortic endografts
  • Vein "mapping" for peripheral vascular or coronary bypass
  • Arm artery "mapping" for coronary bypass
  • Temporal artery duplex scan for Temporal arteritis
  • Ocular duplex scan for ocular ischmia
