Physicians in the Division of General Internal Medicine are your partners for better health.
Our internists provide continuing and comprehensive health care for you and your family by developing strong relationships with patients that focus on providing prevention-based health care. University of Maryland internal medicine physicians are the first point of contact for all of their patients’ health issues and concerns, and they take pride in their ability to provide high-quality and compassionate patient care.
Our team helps manage chronic conditions affecting patients, as well as general health needs. We offer a full range of medical services for adults including:
- Primary care for adults
- Health maintenance, disease prevention and education
- Disease management for conditions such as hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes
- Wellness programs
- Occupational health evaluations
- Preoperative assessment and care
- Referrals to other specialists, when needed
Physicians in the General Internal Medicine division are also involved in research efforts to better manage and treat health conditions. Current projects focus on health-information technology applications in chronic disease management, patient safety as it pertains to chronic disease, and clinical epidemiology of chronic kidney disease.
