Cochlear Implants

We provide cochlear implant services for both adults and children. Our program is intimate, meaning time spent with each patient is not rushed, and patients see the same provider for every visit.

We are in partnership with the University of Maryland College Park to provide cochlear implant services. Our office in College Park is a one-stop shop: consults, follow-up visits and speech therapy are all offered in one convenient location. Free parking is available, as well as an on-site preschool for kids with hearing loss.

Initial visits with our cochlear implant specialists are roughly 1.5 hours long, and unilateral hearing loss visits are 30 minutes. Patients are seen six times within the first year of implantation.

Our program is led by Nicole Nguyen, Au.D., CISC, FAAA, director of audiology for University of Maryland. Dr. Nguyen is the only audiologist in Maryland who is board-certified in cochlear implants.

What to bring:
If you have been seen and referred by another physician, please bring copies of hearing tests, balance tests, and reports of radiographic studies that you have had. You can get copies of these from your referring physician. You may ask your referring physician to FAX them to our office, but bring your own copies as well. If you have had a CT scan or MRI scan, bring not only a report from the radiologist, but the actual films or a CD-ROM version of the films. It is very important your doctor has the opportunity to read the films personally.
