As part of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, our physicians have access to the latest research, education and treatment options available.

The School of Medicine is one of the country's fastest growing research institutions, and it ranks 16th in direct grants and contract expenditures among all 138 medical schools. The School of Medicine ranks 6th among all 76 public medical schools.  

University of Maryland physicians conduct basic science research and clinical research targeting worldwide health problems, such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, neurological diseases, heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, trauma, and psychiatric problems. The School of Medicine also has active research and development programs in vaccines, complementary medicine, and in medical devices and technology.
